Lamborghini has confirmed to TopGear.com that a special, rear-wheel-drive version of the Huracan will soon appear.
Good news then, for fans of oversteer. Set for a 2016 launch, the rear-drive Huracan follows of course, the special rear-wheel-drive editions of the Huracan’s predecessor, the Gallardo.
There’s no more news for you at present – there’ll be more information before the month is out – but expect the 449kW 5.2-litre V10 to be present and correct. If its predecessors are anything to go by, it’ll be lighter, too, offering a saving over the 4WD Huracan’s 1,422kg mass.
The current 4WD Huracan of course, already offers a rear-biased 30:70 torque split, and is capable of sending 100 per cent of its power to the rear wheels if so required. This upcoming RWD version then, should be an even pointer riposte to Mssrs Ferrari 488 GTB and McLaren 570S.
Oh, and about those special edition Gallardos: in 2009 we saw the limited-run Balboni edition (named after Lamborghini’s long-serving test driver), while in 2011 the company launched the LP550-2 Gallardo Spyder.
Stay tuned for the next instalment…
